This competition entry was for the design of the space for Krupa Gallery. Drawing inspiration from the work of the Polish avant-garde painter Wladyslaw Strzeminski, the lobby uses the simple gesture of the construction joint in floors, walls and ceilings to create a dynamic planar composition that defines the space. The material palette is inspired by the Women Harvesting painting. The warm backdrop of the painting inspired the warm wood walls and accent details in the gallery. The white and black strokes are felt in the white walls and reveals. The tinted glass that separates the mezzanine floor from the floor below is sampled from the three main colors in the painting.
